Photos - Beach Life....

01) Surfing didn't actually originate in Hawaii where most people (me included) thought it did but actually in Peru. This is the traditional way of surfing that Peruvians have been doing for 3,000 years



02) They're pretty good at surfing on modern boards too though! Infact the current women's world surfing champion is Peruvian.



03) The bronzed and buff Rich leaps from the sea with rippling muscles as Lynn swoons on the beach!!!



04) Lynn in Mancora town centre. Don't get angry, Lynn - I told you I didn't notice what was written on the billboard behind you when I suggested a photo!!!



05) In Mancora we pretty much had the beach to ourselves except for the odd pelican or two.

Racing north to Hong Kong....

Hello again to you! It's been a while hasn't it? We had a lot of problems with the internet over Christmas and so it just wasn't possible to write this next episode before now. Unfortunately that means I've got a month's worth of travelling to tell you about this time instead of the usual 2 weeks! We've covered alot of ground in this last month as we headed north from Phnom Penh in Cambodia to Hong Kong where we are now. Ultimately we're on our way to Beijing where, in 3 weeks time, we should hopefully be boarding the train to Moscow for the last big trip before going home. Photos 08 - La Paz, Bolivia

I'm posting these photos before I've written the corresponding installment to my travelogue. We are currently in La Paz and these photos were taken earlier this week. The next 'post' will contain more information about these photos. We're both using the same camera at the moment so some are taken by me and some by Lynn. 01) Our hotel in La Paz is right on the edge of the 'Handicraft Market'. Most of the shops around here sell colourful things like these bags and purses. (Photo by Rich) 02) We're also only one block away from the 'Witches Market'. All sorts of potions and charms and lucky trinkets can be bought from this place. Perhaps the most disgusting items for sale though are the dried-out unborn llama foetuses which you are supposed to purchase and then bury in your front garden to ward off evil spirits. Beijing to St. Petersburg - The final leg....

Greetings to you all! I hope you are all healthy and fit. Well, Lynn and I are now back in England. Our tremendous year on the road has, sadly, come to an end and we're now back in the land of mortgages, pensions and bills... how thoroughly depressing it all is! Anyway, sincere apologies for not writing this last episode sooner. I could give you 101 excuses as to why I haven't done it but I'll give you just the one and a damn fine one it is too. Excuse No. 1 for not writing sooner: We had no internet connection. See, I told you it was good. Now we've got Broadband installed though my excuses have dried up and so here I am, back at the computer, about to embark on a lengthy bit of typing so you can finally read about the last 12 days of the trip.
